Who can participate?

HELIMUN is open for students studying in lower secondary (grades from 8 to 9) and in upper secondary school. All participants need to be able to fluently communicate in English as the official language of the conference is English.

If you wish to send a delegation or more to HELIMUN, you need to have

  • a group of at least four students, and
  • one or more MUN-directors (teachers) who will look after their students.

There is no fixed number of participating students allowed per school. However, in case of large request, group sizes might have to be limited so that as many schools as possible have the possibility of participating the conference.

Conference fees

The conference is free of charge. Travel and accomodation has to be arranged by each participating school. Travel and accommodation fees are not included in the conference fee. Special rates are applied to lunch: participating schools will be billed by Kulosaari Secondary School 2€ per day per each participating student and 2.50€ per day per each participating MUN-director.

How to apply?

All schools wishing to participate need to fill in the Request for Participation form. It can be found in the downloads section. Applications were due November 20, 2007.

All schools that have sent the form will be notified via e-mail on November 22, 2007 of their delegation assignments and the final amount they will be allowed to register for the conference. Information on how to complete the registration online will also be sent. Final registration (online) is due December 14, 2007. Final Statement of Entry together with Online Discussion Forum passwords will be mailed to all registered schools on December 17, 2007.

More detailed instructions can be found in HELIMUN Guide.

Assignments will be given by the HELIMUN Board of Directors. Schools may enter a list of their preferred assignments in the Request for Participation. Assignments will be included in the electronic mailing, and will also be available in the online registration system.
