The XVI Annual Session was held May 11-12, 2016 and the theme was Conflict & Migration.

Secretary General Mr Tomi Sirola , Deputy Secretary General Ms Aino Kiiveri and the President of the General Assembly Mr Nicholas Colb served as the executive student officers in the XVI Session. As the guest speaker, the most esteemed Mr Shawn Waddoups inspired the delegates and student officers both into creating a memorable conference experience.

The case in the ICJ in HELIMUN 2016 was the maritime border dispute between the applicants, Somalia, and the respondents, Kenya. In the end, the case was decided in favour of Somalia by votes 18-1. Both the applicants and the respondents were very good at their job, but as the figures reflect, the applicants had stronger evidence. The ICJ in HELIMUN 2016 was brilliant, according to the Assistant President of ICJ: "Everyone had a lot of fun and the sessions progressed smoothly and according to plan". All the judges and advocates were professional and contributed to the sessions, creating a great atmosphere in the courtroom.
