Helsinki International Model United Nations HELIMUN ry is a student run, non-profit organisation registered in Helsinki, Finland. HELIMUN ry arranges an annual, international Model United Nations conference for secondary school students. HELIMUN conferences provide an unique opportunity for students to practice their public speaking and language skills and deepen their understanding of contemporary international issues and the work of United Nations.

XV Annual Session

The XV Annual Session of HELIMUN will be held May 6-7, 2015. The theme for the XV Annual Session is 'Sustainable Development'.

We are honoured to inform that Ms Inka Länsimäki has been appointed the Secretary-General and Ms Nana Dufie the Deputy Secretary-General for the XV Annual Session. Congratulations!

The International Court of Justice will tackle the case 'the Marshall Islands vs the nine nuclear states'.

Assistant Conference Manager Appointed

XIII Annual Session (2013)

The HELIMUN XII Annual Session was held at Kulosaari Secondary School on May 7-8, 2013. The theme of the XIII Annual Session was Human Rights and the issues on the agenda were all somehow related to human rights. The HRC issues were the Question of contemporary forms of slavery and the Question of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment and in the Security Council the delegates were trying to find a solution to the Question of the conflict between Sudan and South-Sudan and the Question of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

Student Officers and Judges

Those wishing to apply for a student officer or judge position can fill in the online application form from September 27, 2012 to October 19, 2012.

Those applying for the positions of the President of the General Assembly (PGA), President of the Security Council, President of ECOSOC, President of the Human Rights Commission and main Chair (GA1-GA3) should have previous chairing experience. Those applying for the position of an Assistant President or Deputy Chair don't need to have previous chairing experience.
